Pof Usa Phoenix - The gun has been in development for some time. We saw it for the first time at SHOT Show 2015. It was revealed by Frank DeSoma, who tragically died in a car accident in 2020. It was then known as PSG, which stands for Patriot Sub Gun.
Despite DeSomma's passing, POF-USA continues to produce innovative, high-quality firearms. Phoenix is no exception. It was officially released at this year's SHOT Show. POF-USA engineer John Capps was there to show us.

It has a direct weighted recoil system that makes it very easy to control according to Capps. “It is a monolithic top. The bottom is empty. It has all the AR-15 fire controls and two hand buttons like our AR. The bolt release and mag release button is ambi like our other rifles. It will come with a MIL-SPEC trigger. It weighs 4.6 pounds, so it's quite light and small for its size. He has a very small arm compared to the competition,” Capps said.

It is 17.5 inches long and compatible with a brace or stock that has a 1913 Picatinny rail on the back. It has a non-reciprocating front charging handle that can be moved to the left or right. It also houses a new 9mm 1/2x28 threaded dual port compensator.

The Phoenix will come with one branded 35 round magazine. The reason POF decided to do this was for reliability and to make the gun look as similar to the AR platform as possible. 20 and 10 round mags will also be available. According to Capps, the price of the extra magazines will be around $30.

"Phoenix" caught my attention with his magazine. At first glance I thought it was a new PCC that could accept MP5 magazines. It is not so.
POF USA Phoenix uses a new proprietary magazine they developed. It is a 35-round magazine with two or one action.
The most interesting is the POF USA Phoenix outfit. It does not have a traditional AR cushion tube. So they have a 1913 rail and a QD sling pocket on the back of the receiver. The top is monolithic.
POF USA Phoenix has the same controls as their Gen4 AR below. It has an ambidextrous bolt lock and magazine lock.

POF USA Phoenix does not have the typical AR charging handle. Instead, it has a non-reciprocal link for forward loading. The handle folds back and locks into the arm.
Interesting bolt system for POF USA Phoenix. It is similar to the anti-return system of the OA-93. The spring is located above the bolt and barrel. The recoil spring is actually two springs nested inside each other like the recoil spring of the Glock Gen 4. The carrier is not a typical AR-9, but it is still direct blowback . The silver back is a tungsten weight.
The POF Phoenix looks interesting, but I'm not too sure about accepting a branded magazine. Hopefully if it takes off like the CZ Scorpion we can see mags expand. MSRP is $1,699 for the gun. The Phoenix 9mm Pistol
The POF-USA Phoenix is a blowback design similar in appearance to many popular submachine gun designs from around the world. This pistol-sized semi-auto features an AR-15-style upper and lower receiver along with ambidextrous controls. The platform is also compatible with Mil-Spec AR-15 triggers, pistol grips and switches. An ambidextrous charging handle is located on the front of the receiver, and the gun has integrated sling attachment points on the front and rear.
At the back of the POF-USA Phoenix is an M1913 Picatinny rail that allows users to install a spacer to stabilize the pistol for more control. The gun feeds from a proprietary 35-round magazine and features an 8.5-inch diameter barrel with a 1:10-inch twist rate and a 1/2-inch-28 TPI rifled muzzle. The overall length of the gun is only 17.5 inches and the monolithic upper receiver has M-Lok mounts for accessories. A full-length Picatinny top rail also makes it easy to add optics.
The POF-USA Phoenix weighs 4.6 pounds unloaded and the pistol comes from the factory with a Mission First tactical pistol grip. The pistol has a suggested retail price of $1,699. For more information, visit pof-usa.com.
